does anyone know...
which is a more serious surgery, neutering or spaying?
also, if you got your dog neutered, were you told he shouldn't jump for the first few days?
TIA!

Re: does anyone know...
Having female dogs fixed is more invasive. I don't know if it's more or less serious than having a male dog fixed. We were told he shouldn't do anything that would put a strain on his stitches. Our guy was in NO mood to jump the first two days anyway.

Re: does anyone know...
The surgery is easier for a male. When we did ours he was mopey for a day or so and didnt want to jump so its not that big a deal. A few days later he was back to his normal self.

Re: does anyone know...
Thanks for clarifying! For some reason I heard the male surgery was a more serious surgery and that didn't make sense.

Re: does anyone know...
The spaying on a female is much more invasive. I've actually seen both done. The boys is actually quite simple. They basically cut open the sac, remove the testicles, and sew up the skin. The females they actually removed all the female parts and have to cut into the abdomen. Sorry if this was too much info!
