NYC teacher
Hi. I am posting this on behalf of my sister-in-law. She was a tenured NYC school teacher and left 5 years ago to go to another district ouside of NYC. She was excessed from her position recently. She is special ed certified.
Someone told me that you have 10 years to get a teaching position back in NYC schools after you've left. Has anyone heard this before? If so, do you know who she should contact?
Thanks for your help.

Re: NYC teacher
Did she resign from NYC? If she went on a sabbatical or a childcare leave she'd be able to get her job back (depending on seniority) but I don't know if she can if she resigned her position 5 years ago.

yes, if she resigned i don't think she can get that job back again. however, special ed. is one area where they are still hiring.

Re: NYC teacher
She can't get her old job back, but if a SpEd position opens in elsewhere, she could be hired for that.
