I have seen/experienced rigorous interviewing in 26. Principals are touchy about attendance but seeing as how he explained why and it was a special circumstance it seems unfair to me.

Yes
I had an interview, a demo, and then they called my references. After all that they went on HSST to see if I had any U's and my attendance record.
They actually called to ask me about my attendance. I had 13 one year and 8 last year. I explained that I had a baby and last year I had bronchitis and shingles. I made it very clear that I am not the type of person to take the day off because it is sunny.
Luckily they still gave me the job.
