Personalized backpacks?
I love one of the backpacks that can be personalized. I've never personalized anything for DD b/c I've been scared to death of stories about how strangers can read DC's name, call out to them, and then they be kidnapped b/c they think they know the person. But I'm thinking that going to school and back on the schoolbus, there is no way for this to happen.
What do you think?
As an alternative, I can get initials on the backpack and name just on luchbox.
I know I do't HAVE to get them personalized, it just looks so pretty with it.

Plenty of people don't want their kids' names on things, but it doesn't bother me.

I think people dont like names on their childrens things when they are out alone. Like walking to the bus stop etc. If youre at the bus stop before and after I see no problem with it at all. As a matter of fact I think its great to personalize almost everything at school. Take it from a mom whos son has most likely lost hundreds of dollars of winter jackets, lunch boxes, hats etc etc etc

I was debating this myself this year. I am always overly cautious, so I had decided on initials only. His preschool backpack had his name but I was the only person dropping him off and picking him up. With him taking the bus this year, I feel more comfortable with just initials.

Unless your child is standing at a bus stop alone, without you even looking out the window, I wouldn't worry about it.

I put ds's name on his backpack and freaked out when I got it. But I do like that it has something on it. He took it to camp and we would have to search through the backpacks (he never remembered where he left it) and it was nice that it couldn't be mistaken for anothers.
Next one will be initials.
