Help Please...Starting WW tommorow

What can I expect? Does anyone go to the meetings? Do I have to buy stuff? LOL

I am clueless.

I hope I can stick to this.

Re: Help Please...Starting WW tommorow

You will have to pay for the Weigh-in/meeting (not sure if the registration is free at your location right now.) They also have packages (like 6 meetings for 64.95 - along those longs.) The packages lessen the weekly cost and keep you going! Just be careful if you choose a package because they expire.

If you skip a week, you are still expected to pay for the week you skip.

I LOVE meetings- you will have to find a leader that you love- it makes all of the difference.

You will weigh-in (first time weigh in is normally at the front desk where you pay, some locations have separate dressing-room like stalls where you weigh-in each time after.) At some point whether it be your first or second weigh-in, you will establish a weight goal, one that is within your weight range for your age and height. Then you will go into the room for the meeting.

Depending on the leader they will ask if anyone is knew. They might ask you to stay to go over things at the end of the meeting.

The leader will ask people to volunteer their losses and then will go on to ask if anyone has any questions or concerns.

The leader will then discuss a topic for the remainder of the meeting. Normally revolves around a tip or strategy for success on the program.

There are things to buy if you choose to. Things I have bought and found useful are:

Their measuring serving spoons (serving spoons that are portioned to one cup, half a cup, etc.)

The books for the grocery store and the dining out guide that have points for various brands of foods/restaurants/fast food places. Look through these to see if they will be useful to you.

Good Luck and make sure you join the WW thread and Azoodie's challenge thread!

Re: Help Please...Starting WW tommorow

First of all, I just wanted to wish you good luck sweetie!

WW is great. It helped me lose 12 pounds last year before my wedding. I go about once a month to weigh in.

What to expect:
You gotta pay! Chat Icon Bring your insurance card with you because with some insurance companies, the registration fee is waived. You can pay with cash or credit card.

Brianne was pretty thorough with what to expect. But I will add that you don't want to wear jeans to the weigh in... you'll weight more and might not get an accurate weigh in (at least this is what I was told!). The meetings are helpful as you hear from others about what has worked/hasn't worked. It's also a great source of support. Once you get your points slider and initial booklet, read it thoroughly. Bring the points slider with you food shopping. It will really help you pick your foods!

Good luck sweetie! You can do it!Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Help Please...Starting WW tommorow

I would just add:

I tend to wear the same type of clothes when I weigh in and go the same time every week. I feel like that way it's a consistent measure.

Find a leader you like. I have been to great meetings and awful meetings. If you don't like the leader or the group, you won't keep going. I find the meetings helpful.

You don't have to buy any of their stuff and I find their food products to be fairly expensive. I have bought cookbooks and snacks on occasion. I do have older versions of the books that give point values for eating out and the more extended food companion and have found those helpful. You probably don't need the cookbooks Chat Icon Just adjust what you make to be points friendly.

Re: Help Please...Starting WW tommorow

I actually had a WW weigh-in outfit that I wore every single week!!!

Also, the internet is loaded with resources. If you don't want to spend a lot of $$ on their books, you can find most of what you need just by surfing the web. Almost every chain restaurant nowadays puts their nutritional info on-line, all you need is the point counter to figure out how many points something is.

Best of luck to you!!
