sandals/open toe shoes
Do you wear these to work in the warm weather? I know some teachers do and some don't. I always felt they are too informal/casual for the workplace. Plus, I don't need my students stepping on my toes all day! What are your thoughts as a teacher?

Re: sandals/open toe shoes
I typically don't when I'm wearing a skirt or a dress, (to me it's too much exposure, esp when I don't like to wear pantyhose with open toes/sandals) But if I have longer pants that cover most of my feet I'll do it every once in awhile

Re: sandals/open toe shoes
I wear open toed/peep toed shoes to work. I will not wear flip flops unless it is an approved dress down day or regents testing week.
Technically, though, my school has no dress code so I could wear whatever I want.

Same except I was on the sixth floor. This year I am in a new school so I might hold out on the flip flops and see what everyone else wears.

Re: sandals/open toe shoes
I work in a very beach-like community and it's a bit more casual compared to other districts I've student taught or subbed in. Most of the teachers wear sandals or nice flip flops in the warmer months.

i wear them proudly. after 8 years, priority #1 is to be comfortable enough to do my job well...within the boundaries of looking reasonably professional.

Ditto. I've been teaching for 10 years. In May, June, and September it is SO HOT in my classroom, I've actually felt faint. I never dress unprofessionally, and I think a blouse with capris and sandals or a dress with nicer flip-flops (not beachy ones; leather ones from Nine West, say) are just fine.
