I failed my 1hr GTT
My OB just called to say I failed, now I have to take the 3hr on Thursday.....he also said my blood count is low...now to me that would mean I am losing blood somewhere...but he meant to say that my iron is low, lower than what he would like to see. So now I have to take an iron pill....

I failed my 1 hour two weeks ago and today I went for the 3 hour. I have horrible veins so they had to stick me a few extra times. It really was not too bad.
I got a 152 on the 1 hour and he said the norm is 140 and high is anything over 180. My doc said that he wanted me to take the 3 hour b/c diabetes runs in my family.
Good luck on the 3 hour.

I just took my 1hr this past thursday...I am going this thursday for the 3 hr....I have to call my Dr's office to ask how bad I failed...
Has your Dr mentioned the 1hr test to you yet? Normally it is done between 24-28weeks.

It is the 1 hour glucose tolerance test. You get it somewhere between 24-28 weeks. You drink this sugary drink, sit for 1 hour and then have your blood taken.
If you fail like me, you have to take the 3hour test.

I also failed my 1 hr gtt with a reading of 186! I was totally doubting whether or not my doc did it right because they didn't even want me to do the 3hr after that, and my first 2 weeks of taking my blood sugar my levels were ALWAYS low, but now i notice that on days where i follow the diet, my levels are low and consistant, and on days when i cheat a bit the levels bounce around a lot.
i do know that a lot of people fail the 1 hr and do fine on the 3 hr.
good luck on your test and if it turns out you do have it, i do to (due oct 9th) so let me know if you have any questions.

I know this has been a common question... but I thought most of the time the answer was no???

Good luck today w/ the 3 hr!!!
I was told not to fast and not to "over eat" the day of my 1 hr...I had a bagel in the AM. I took mine @ 27 weeks.

Good Luck with your three hour - I hope you pass - many people fail the 1 hour and pass the three. Hope you are a lucky one!
Unfortunately, I was not lucky and had GD during my pregnancy...so if you do feel free to FM me any questions or concerns!!!
As far as fasting, I was told no with one hour but yes for my 2 and 3 hour (I had a 2 hour after birth at 6 weeks to see if the GD was gone!).
