? about sleepovers

AJ was supposed to have his first sleepover tonight at his grandparents house tonight (hes on his way home)

we talked about it the last 2 days letting him know he was going to stay with G&G and sleep there.. he was ok and all excited about it.

i drop him off today, and he tells me, bye mommy see you tomorrow.

well just got a call from MIL and she is very upset but she said that since 5 hes been asking for me and when am I coming to get him, she settles him down, and then when she showed him where he was supposed to sleep he started to hit her, kick her and push her. he was screaming/crying and having a major meltdown.

said that FIL was going to be bringing him home, because when she said grandpa is taking you home he calmed down.

has any one done sleep overs and if so how did it go?

AJ has classic autism, he is 4, he has slept out before but with me and DH (on vacations)

i would like for him to have sleepovers like Carmela has...

i guess i am just sad that he is having such a hard time.. also he had all of his favorite gadgets with him and his blankie.

thanks for getting this far...

Re: ? about sleepovers

My DD hasn't master the sleepover yet either, but we are almost there. She is 5 with PDD-NOS.

It took a few times leaving her at my parents and having them do her bedtime routine. She would do it but would not go to sleep, so I had to get her. After the 3rd time we tried, she went to sleep but woke up at around 3 am and climbed into my parents bed, thinking it was me and oh holy hell broke loose. I had to go get her.

We will definately try again soon and hopefully she'll get through the night the next time. My parents have the patience of a saint : ).

I would keep trying and hopefully after a few times he'll get the idea or what's going on and have fun : ).

The key for my DD is to keep doing things until she's comfortable with them. She is like that with everything so it didn't surprise me it's taking so long to get her to sleep out without me. But I am counting down the days until she does!! : )

Good luck!
