Would you be mad
I just want to know if I am over-reacting.
Most of the people I have talked to said no, and that I continue to be taken advantage of.
Anyways, a few weeks ago I wrote about the issues with lack of supervision at my job.
My boss says that as soon as we get a new program going, he is planning to hire another supervisor.
I want no part of this role or duties, but for now I am the go-to girl for everything.
Whatever. Since I've been doing what I do for awhile, that comes with the territory I guess.
In any event, he recently hired someone who swears up and down they were never told during the interview that they may need to occasionally travel out of the area for client-related stuff.
Because they feel they were not told, they are not comfortable doing this at this point.
So my boss told ME that I have to take them on this trip which is about 300 miles round trip.
The employee feels bad that I was put in this situation.
I sent my boss an email the other day telling him that I hope in the future he remembers to tell people about this expectation in the interview because I am no longer willing to be the town bus.
He responded that I needed to relax.
Anyways, I talked to a couple of the other new hires and they said they don't remember being told about travel, but it may have been mentioned........A LOT is discussed during the interview.
Thoughts? Would you be pi$$ed too?
FWIW I have a leased car and all the other employees who have been here for awhile do the travel thing when it's expected.
ETA: People I have worked with for awhile have said that they feel the boss may not be telling newbies all the expectations of the role for fear of scaring them away and/or because he will just assign the work to someone else if he feels people are giving a hard time about it.

I don't feel like you are overreacting at all. I would feel the same way. If he thinks its not that big of a deal, maybe he should take them instead of dumping it on you

Re: Would you be mad
Tomorrow is the scheduled big trip and I was mad all day today. DH was also pi$$ed this morning when I was telling him about having to put the miles on my car.
I met with one of the nursing supervisors because she could tell I was noticeably upset.
She suggested that I TELL my boss (with no room to negotiate) that I was renting a car for these big trips and then have the company reimburse me.
So I did that.....and he said okay.
