I teach first. Similar to what you do:
Calendar, Days (yesterday, today, tomorrow), Days in school, Weather, Review of sight and spelling words. Daily journal time.

Re: Morming meeting primary gradez
I teach 1st grade. I use my smart board for the morning meeting. When students first come in they answer a question of the day on the smart board (a yes or no) by moving their name. Then we start our meeting by going over the question and counting how many said yes or no, talk about greater and less than, etc. Then we read the message on the board and they circle words they know or fix mistakes, then I have my poem of the week. We read it everyday, some days they circle rhyming words, sight words, etc. After that I do a read aloud and teach my mini language arts lesson for the day. I save all of the calendar activities for our math time since we count how many days of school and add a penny for each day etc, I find it a great lead in for math.
