Has anyone applied to LIJ health system before?

Bad economy aside, is it super competitive?

Did you hear back from them fairly quickly?

Any other tips/pointers?

This is for a social work position.

I applied for a fiance position there last year; i heard back from them pretty quickly after i posted my resume. I had an interview in about 2 weeks. But it took about 4-6 weeks to hear back from them that i didn't get the job. They had a LOT of applicants there that day; not just for the position i was applying for; but for the whole hospital system (north shore)

I applied about a month ago to 2 different jobs. I havent heard back and doubt I will.

DH applied online about a month ago. He got a call back w/in 2 days and the woman left him a message that she was interested in speaking to him. He has since called her back multiple times and only gets her voicemail. He left 2 messages and she still has not called him back.

People who already work for the health system have priority for the jobs so even if you are more qualified, you might not even get an interview. It's very frustrating.
Keep trying though, it can happen!

I am guessing since it is probably a big bureacracy that you probably need an inside connection if you've never worked there.

I am pretty sure DH has a friend whose mom is a social worker there.

He's on my FB and I am thinking of sending him a message to see if she would pass my resume on to HR.

I don't expect her to make any promises of course, but it seems worth a try.

Aw surprised to hear this; I remember when you got your position changed at the agency I thought it was for the better....gl!!
