at a loss. advice needed please
Ok I apologize in advance if this is long and confusing!
I applied for a job in a school (guidance position), and had my second interview with supervisor today. It went fabulously and she said the principal loved me and is pushing HR to hire me. WELL, I am 10 weeks pregnant. Such a blessing, but this job will really be a major start to my career.
I am not sure what to do. I will not be working the whole year, as I am due in April, and will just take off the rest of the school year with no pay. This job isn't a guarantee, but it looks promising. If they hire me, should I tell them I am PG or should I wait a little longer? I feel like I should tell them so they can re evaluate and maybe hire someone who can work a full year.
Thanks for reading I am just so confused

Oh, that's tough!!!
Are you planning on returning to work after your maternity leave? If so, I'd keep it to myself until at least the first trimester. If not, I'd probably tell them sooner, but not before they offered you the job.
Good luck, and congrats!

I wouldn't say anything until you're ready to announce. They can't not hire you b/c you're pregnant. Why should you give up this opportunity? If you are the perfect fit for the job, they will work with you regarding maternity leave.

I don't know all the legalities; but like the previous poster said they CANNOT NOT hire you because you're pregnant. With that said; i probably wouldn't say anything to them to give them any reason to possibly not consider for the job you're qualified for. If you get the job; then you can tell them when you're ready to announce it. Things happen-even if you decide to stay home with your baby and not return to work; then they'll just have to search for a new applicant again. But i wouldn't pass up the job in the mean time!

Sounds like you are putting the best interest of the school before your own. A big no no in my book! YOU look out for YOU because they will not. If g-d forbid your position was eliminated after you returned from maternity leave do you think they would say don't fire her because she has a baby? No way!! Do what is good for you. They can't not hire you because you're preggo but I am sure they can figure out another reason on paper if the pregnancy is really the truth. I say go for it!
And congrats, mommy to be!

Thanks everyone for the responses I think a major issue is that the school is far, and I have no clue how I will feel with traveling when I am farther along. That being said, school opens tomorrow and I didn't get a call... Hmmmm
