The Most Dangerous Thing - spoliers
Has anyone read this?
I just finished it.
I have mixed feelings.
I really enjoyed the book as I was reading it but some things bothered me.

3/4 of the way through. So far I like it. But it's not my favorite by this author.

Hey there.
I thought the way they handled the "mystery" portion of it and the ending itself were both a letdown.
Throughout the book you kind of knew that the old guy didn't do anything to Gordon, and you also knew throughout that it probably wasn't one of the parents. So I was kind of wondering throughout the book - where are we going with this?
In other words, they didn't give the reader any tidbits (in my opinion) to make you think it could have been someone else. If there are no suspects, there's no mystery. Or maybe I just missed something. 
I enjoyed the writing in general and the development of the characters, especially Gwen. That is largely what kept me going.
I thought the fact that it turned out to be random high school boys was a little far fetched. I work with high school boys. They're pretty much all homophobic. Buy these guys did it because they were goaded into it by that girl? And a bunch of random nameless boys? After all that, that's who really abused him? Seemed like a letdown to me.
I think I analyzed this tale too much!

Hey  I enjoyed hearing your thoughts and I agree on a lot of points.
I totally agree about the high school boys being extremely far fetched and I felt that that bit was thrown in by the author as a complete after thought.
BUT I thought throughout the book that he was being molested by the priest. Toward the end I changed my mind and kept rereading parts to make sure I hadn't missed anything because I couldn't believe I had no clue which direction the ending was going to take.
I also liked Gewn's character a lot and felt she was well defined but I felt Mickey wasn't developed enough. I can't understand who she really was, how she felt, what made her do what she did.

Ah, gotcha. I can see that.
I had never read that author before so it's good to know her other books are even better.
