Those of us that pay for aftercare...

If you have to pay for after care and it's calculated based on hours, do you pay for the days there is no school?

My DS is in before and after care in his preschool. They bill monthly. I pay for before and after care for days school is not in session. Is this typical of pre schools?

My son will be starting before care at a pre-school and they said we pay for single days missed, but if we miss a full week, then we only have to pay for half of the week. I guess it is better than paying it in full.

For DD (1st grade) - I only pay for days she actually attends even if school is in sessiion
For DS- (pre-k daycare) - I don't do before care but it is a flat monthly fee whether they attend or not or school is open or closed.

I pay 9 dollars a day but per kid .. but only for the days that they attend. I still pay the full amount even if they only stay 10 minutes.. but it balances out because it's only 9 dollars when the school has a half day and they are there for longer. I never pay for days they do not attend or vacation days.

Not pre-school, elementary school here.

My kids are in 5 days a week. I have a monthly rate & they include the days the school is in session. For the half days & early release days, we can pay an additional amount per kid.

You have the option of dropping it to by the day with a minimum number of days.

We pay a flat rate per month. DS goes to aftercare 3 times a week and we pay $145/month. I recently found out that the rate includes care for days there is no school (holidays excluded).

I provide after school care and I get paid an hourly rate for the days that I have the children only. I get $12 an hour for 2 children (brothers).

Our preschool has said the price is calculated based on the number of school days needed during the year then divided by months. So it is what it is. The only time you can get money back is when they are out a full week due to sickness.

Sorry! Just saw this!

I use/used New Life. I actually really like them because they do the half days! I'm home so far this year so I have not used them yet - but they are really sweet people and the prices are super reasonable.
