Co-workers who make excuses

Do you work with anyone who is constantly making excuses and if so, how do you handle? I am dealing with someone who is making me nuts. Chat Icon

This guy I work with showed me some marketing collateral that he printed. The branding isn't right. So i pointed this out (nicely). And all he said was "well XX approved it." XX is a super busy manager who is looking after half the company. She is totally overwhelmed and barely has time for anyone. I know her - she's not cross referencing that every bit of branding is perfect. She is trusting that my colleague has done that. I told him that I am always happy to help with this stuff...in fact, he was once told by the head of our office to show me these things.

I can't listen to his excuses - he has them for everything!!!

I guess i should just give up and let him make a mistake, right?

Chat Icon I work with one of these people too! It's so frustrating and I catch myself stepping in to correct but in the end, he continues to make excuses as to why it can be done the wrong way. Sometimes, you just have to throw your hands up in the air......... Chat Icon

Don't! I know I get annoyed when I have to "hold someone's hand" for them to do their job, but if he messes up, he'll probably just urn around and blame you and say that you approved it. At least, that's how people in MY office are! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
