Re: neck surgeon
I just had a 2 level fusion done 3 weeks ago. Dr. Harvinder Sandhu at hospital for special surgery. Its a hike into the city, but he has office hours 2x per month in uniondale. (which is where i go normally) he's got top notch credentials, really answers questions well, and specializes in neck surgery. he said most docs do 85% lumbar and 15% cervical, he does about 40% cervical surgeries. also, he only does 2 surgeries in one day. (i've already had 2 lumbar surgeries with a different doc from LIJ, and i know he's done as many as 4 in one day.)
also, having done 3 back surgeries already, i highly recommend HSS. their policies and procedures will do everything to minimize complications after surgery. if i had my 1st lumbar surgery there, i probably wouldn't have needed the second one because of how they treat you after the surgery.
if your sis has any questions, PM me, and i'll give you my email.

Re: neck surgeon
Dr. David Wallach. He did my fusion when I broke my neck almost 2 year ago. Everything turned out great and he's great to work with. He's based out of Stony Brook.
