Weight gain & Baby's weights & Delivery

Sorry for all of the questions lately!

How much did you gain in your pregnancy? When did you gain the bulk of that? I've been reading that Dr. Luke's book and I'm getting nervous that I'm not gaining enough. I'm 17.5 weeks and up maybe 12 or 13 lbs which is around what I was when I was pregnant with just 1. I gained 47 in my singleton pregnancy. With my son, I started out with a BMI of like 16 (underweight) and this time my BMI was somewhere around 18.5 before getting pregnant (cusp of "normal" weight).

What were your baby's weights?

When did you deliver?

THANKS!

Re: Weight gain & Baby's weights & Delivery

I gained about 25 lbs overall (but I started out heavier to begin with!), I delivered at 36 weeks, 5 days and DD was 6lb5oz and DS was 5lb6oz and I lost about 45 lbs by time I got home from the hospital!

ETA It sounds like you are gaining fine! Just because it is twins doesn't mean you will totally gain double the weight! Chat Icon

Re: Weight gain & Baby's weights & Delivery

With DD I gained 40 and she was born 36 weeks 5 days. With the twins I gained 45 and they were born 6 weeks 6 days.

You are gaining fine! It will taper off towards the end too!

Re: Weight gain & Baby's weights & Delivery

I delivered at 30 weeks so I had only gained 18 lbs. up to that point. It was very slow go for me in the beginning. I think I was even down 2 lbs. in my first trimester, no MS or anything, which was kind of strange. B/c they were so early they were only 2.3 and 3.10 lbs.

Re: Weight gain & Baby's weights & Delivery

sorry to crash.... Thanks for this post, ladies.... I am 23 weeks right now with Chat Icon Chat Icon and am already up 50 lbs. I was skinny to begin with so I'm not really sure what the heck is going on, especially reading your low numbers!!!! I really am not craving anything, nor do I eat an insane amount. I do healthy snacking, grapes/bananas, throughout the day. The dr said it's probably a lot of water b/c my feet are starting to swell a lot at the end of the day. Aaaaaaah.... Is it bad that I'm hoping someone else posts that they gained a LOT so I won't feel as bad?! lol

Re: Weight gain & Baby's weights & Delivery

DS I gained nearly 55lbs! (I had pregnancy induced hypertension starting around 32 weeks. So I had massive water retention.

With the twins I gained about 25lbs. I didn't gain anything my first trimester at all.

They were born at 37w2d. 6lbs and 4.12. By 3 weeks PP I was back in pre pregnancy clothes and had lost all but 8 pounds.

I had gained 28lbs since my first OB apt. BUT I had already gained close to 20bs thru IVF and all the meds and roids.

I gave birth 32w1d and boys were 3.13 and 4lbs even.

(I lost 20 of the 28lbs within a week of leaving the hospital and still working on the rest

Re: Weight gain & Baby's weights & Delivery

On day of delivery, I was up 75 lbs. Chat Icon Most of it came in the 3d trimester. I had pre-e also so there was a lot of water weight.
Babies born at 36w6d. Kylie was 6 lbs 2 oz and Travis (Single Umbilical Artery) was 5 lbs 5 oz.

(lost all the weight plus the 3 lbs leftover preg #1 within 6 months.)

My first pregnancy, gained 56 lbs, delivered 9lbs even baby at 42 weeks.

Re: Weight gain & Baby's weights & Delivery

I gained about 15 lbs in 32 weeks of pregnancy, and I'm now down 38 lbs since giving birth 8 weeks ago.

Baby A Chat Icon was 4 lbs 6 ozs at birth.

Baby B Chat Icon was 3 lbs 13 ozs at birth.

Granted, I didn't have an easy pregnancy.

I was on some form of bed rest from 16 weeks on, starting with modified bed rest and ending with strict bed rest. I was in the hospital for almost a week on bed rest also.

I was also on a strict diet towards the end because I had gestational diabetes.
