Can you neg when you're unemployed?
I had a really good interview today; got great feedback on the spot. 
However, when the HR person was scheduling the interview, she told me immediately 'the salary is about X and are you happy with something like that' If the job is offered to me, can I neg. a little or is that out of the question since I don't have a job?
The 'about' figure is a 10k paycut but on Long Island vs NYC so I will save $150 month. I wouldn't ask for the 10k, but I would try for another 2 or 3 unless that would be unreasonable given my situation? Thoughts are greatly appreciated!
ETA: I'm really excited about this opportunity and wouldn't dream of saying no even at the salary that is offered.

You can always negotiate. If salary is non negotiable, how about negotiating better hours, another week's vacation time etc?

I don't think it would shock them if you were to ask if 2k more was doable. I used to recruit and i always had to offer the low end of the range first. Sometimes people accepted sometimes they asked for more. Can't hurt to ask. Good luck!!

I agree.
I also don't think I would try to negotiate for more time off in the interview.
I could see that being a turn off to some employers.
I would be sure to ask though about the benefits that come with the position. Often they can make up for a lower salary.
BTW: I am so excited for you that you are getting bites so quickly!!!
