New to therapy...

My son started to get speech and occupational therapy in September. Is is customary to get them some sort of gift for the holidays? I know some of my friends do this... Thanks

I usuallly do gift cards - Dunkindonuts, Panera, Target, etc. For those I spent a little more on, I got a TD bank gift card.

I don't mind sharing. When he just had 2 therapists working with him, I gave $25 to each. Last year, though, we had a teacher, several classroom assistants, 4 therapists, 2 bus drivers and 2 matrons.

So, the ones who saw him twice a week for 30 minutes, I gave $10-15, in Dunkin donuts gift cards. I figured that I would rather get a $10 gift card than a $10 gift if I were in their shoes.

We were still in EI at the time, so we had an ABA therapist who saw him for about 5 hours a week, I gave her more, but don't remember how much - $25, maybe?

Honestly, I think all of them appreciate anything you do. I also tried to write a meaningful note to each of them and I think they appreciated that more than the gift.

Usually for the teachers I do gift cards, 20 or 25 and I have so many aids and bus drivers I just make something cute and put candy in it. Last year I cashed in my reward points and got a bunch of 10. target cards and stuck them in. My 1 son has 5 para's (they trade off every 2 weeks) 1 teacher, bus driver, aid, 2 home aba teachers and then speech/ot and pt. My other son is 3 and just started this year so here we go again with more gifts, plus my older guys....fun having 6 kids
