Diabetes....early symptoms
Asking for a friend, if you were diagnosed with diabetes as an adult did you have any symptoms beforehand? What were they? Thanks!

Re: Diabetes....early symptoms
Hubby is a type 2 diabetic... His symptoms were frequent urination, extreme thirst, wounds took a long time to heal, and lethargy.. I can tell when his numbers are high now because of the frequent urination...

Re: Diabetes....early symptoms
Since the symptoms are the same for both types (the end result is blood sugar is too high), I can say what my symptoms were and are.
Frequent urination is usually the biggest hint. When my numbers are good, I can go 4-6 hours without using the bathroom. If it's really high, I'm going every hour on the hour.
My vision gets a little blurry, I feel tired, there's a weird taste in my mouth, my heart is racing.
What seems to be counter-intuitive at first is that you actually crave sugar. Your blood sugar is high, but your body can't use it, so it tells your brain to get more sugar.

I was very tired after eating. I also got very thirsty. I never really had to go to the bathroom much.

Re: Diabetes....early symptoms
I was diagnosed back in July. I have PCOS which they believe that it is where it come from. So I am not sure that my symptons are the same BUT I was always thirsty, no energy what so ever. I gained a lot of weight. I just felt awful all the time. I would sleep for hours and when I got up felt just as tired. I also go a lot of bad headaches and of course I could get the tiniest scratch and it would be there for days.
I am on meds, follow a low card gluten free diet and have taken off weight and I am doing better.
Good luck to your friend.
