You want to leave your current employment but you don't know where you want to go?
I can look through 1000s of listings in my field and not one comes up as appealing.

Yes. Yes. YES!
It's very frustrating. i have more of an issue b/c I don't have a "field" or a degree (Associate in Criminal Justice, but I don't work in the field, nor want to)

Re: does anyone else have this problem?
Yes, to an extent. I think the social work field in general........no matter where you go you will be dealing with the same crapola and broken systems.
I also personally am not one who is big on change. I've made the mistake of leaving somewhere once to go someplace else and that job was horrid.
MY issue is I always talk about leaving the field altogether to do something else, but have no clue what else I could do.

Someone told me I could start a private consulting firm helping ppl secure entitlements and benefits, advocacy, etc... what do you think about that?

Re: does anyone else have this problem?
If it interests you, I say sure, go for it. I know there is certainly a need for it.
I work with a specific population where a lot of people can go into business for themselves and I have had several people ask me why don't I go for it.
If DH wasn't self-employed I would possibly consider it, but I like too much having my own free time after business hours.
Also health insurance unfortunately is a factor in this day and age.
If I stay in social work, I want to eventually go into hospital social work or some place unionized.
