ABA/target book HELP
Please tell me what is in your book? In short, I'm trying to get my son extended services through the hoildays. His home book is used/made by the home staff (which are t/a's) The agency that provides them sends a supervisor once a month who's suppose to keep the book in order. Well to say the least it's a disaster. There's scratchy notes everywhere, data sheets with % but no graphs- aren't graphs necessary to show progress/regression? His day book looks nothing like this. He was denied from CSE. I'm sad. Last year he got services over the summer and I think it's because his day program handled all the paperwork and proved regression. This...well it's just a mess.
So my question is "legally" what must be provided/submitted- paperwork wise? If anything. I tried googling and got no where

Re: ABA/target book HELP
I would really have a talk with the supervisor. I am not sure why there are "notes" everywhere. They should keep the "notes" for the communication book.
The data sheets should be very simple (like a plus or a minus) and then if there is percentage taken, the therapist should just simply place a dot on a graph. Are there graphs in the book that are blank ?
I do know that paperwork can take time away from the therapy so perhaps you can offer to graph it ?
I would try to track "maintenance" data and see if you can prove a regression after a vacation break. See if skills that were mastered are now dwindling...even "attending" type skills.
I don't know too much about the legality but your agency supervisor should be there to help you.

Re: ABA/target book HELP
His school book (day) is perfect. His home book, I'm sad to say but it's really sad. That's why I was asking, I thought certain things were just standard with ABA. I spoke to the supervisor and she got all defensive and quit. So now I have 2 t/a's who don't know how to organize a book, the agency who just says well we are looking for someone, and what's the big deal there's data sheets and the district who says there's insufficent info and won't approve services. I could just cry, I feel like there's no team, no help, just me and my poor baby who suffers. I spoke with an advocate and she said he needs an attorney. Gosh, I wonder how much this is gonna cost

Re: ABA/target book HELP
I would talk to the agency.
ABA IS data base. There is no reason why ABA was done without any data of some sort.

Re: ABA/target book HELP
Do you have any copies of you quarterly reports done by the ABA therapist(s)?

Re: ABA/target book HELP
I have nothing, no reports. The agency just blows it off like what's the big deal. I'd love to post a sample one but I can't figure out how to upload it

Re: ABA/target book HELP
Each program should have a page for notes about that specific program, as well as a graph for all the scores from that program. I'm a special ed teacher and am happy to help you if you want. :)

Re: ABA/target book HELP
Unfortunately there are a lot of people who say they use the principles of aba bit don't know how, are misinformed, or are not properly supervised. If you are unhappy with the level of service your agency is providing (and I would have specific proof from the data book like copies of programs) I would reconvene with ur district and either ask for a board certified behavior analyst to consult/ supervise or ask for an entirely different agency.
