Re: Never ending Period?
I had a similar problem in high school and was diagnosed with PCOS.
You really should put a call in to the gyn and see what they say!! I had bleeding that lasted 6wks sometimes in HS and I become anemic from all the blood loss!!

Re: Never ending Period?
I had/have that happen on occasion. I was diagnosed with fibroids. Definitely call your GYN for a sono and check up. Good luck

Re: Never ending Period?
it could be a number of things..
PCOS, an ovarian cyst, fibroids, polyps. all of which are usually benign issues, but annoying as all hell.
when i was in HS i suffered with really heavy periods, irregular periods, periods that would last 2 weeks. they found a small cyst on my ovary when i was in colllege and put me on BC which worked wonders in regulating.
i was on BC for 10 yrs i think by the time we TTC and back on them again.
My mom has had numerous issues with endometriosis, & polpys. all of which give her the symptoms you are describing.
You should make an appt to see your dr though.

Re: Never ending Period?
Could be a cyst, perimenopause, faulty ovulation, ectopic pg...etc. You would need to see a dr to get an ultrasound and blood test to find out what is going on.

Re: Never ending Period?
I had my period for 28 days straight my freshman year of college. I had never been to a gyn so I had no idea what to do or think. It ended up being an ovarian cyst which had burst. I took BCP and was fine after that.

Re: Never ending Period?
I once had my period super heavy for 3 months straight. Don't know why it took so long for me to go to the dr but I finally went & took hormones for a short time & it stopped the bleeding. A few other times I've had bleeding that's lasted several weeks at a time but then stopped on its own. Haven't had this happen in years though, & hope it doesn't happen again. I know for me it was that my hormones were/are totally out of control.

Re: Never ending Period?
I had my period for about 5 weeks or so before I finally went to the gyno. She said I was full of polyps and needed a D&C. After that, all back to normal.

Re: Never ending Period?
I also had something very similar. In HS my periods would last two weeks. I found out later on it was becasue I had PCOS.
