greek yogurt

Anyone know where to get this besides trader joe's? I'm in Mineola so it's kind of a hike for me!

I was thinking maybe healthnuts in bay terrace?

maybe try going to fageusa.com and calling them to see if they have a list of local stores that carry it?

Are there any greek specialty stores around your area.

I also have heard of people making their own with fat free plain yogurt and a coffee filter (putting the coffee filter or paper towel over a bowl and making sure it stays suspended above the bottom of the bowl, pour the yogurt on top and let it drain in the refrigerator)

ETA: other, more specific directions:

To drain yogurt for
Tzatziki Dip, spoon fat free plain
yogurt into a coffeebrewing
cone lined with
a paper coffee filter. (Or
spoon yogurt into a fine
strainer or colander
lined with cheesecloth.)
Place over a bowl.
Refrigerate for 1 hour to
drain. Discard liquid.

there is a Greek deli on rt. 119 in hicksville that you can get it from.

also whole foods sells is as well.

Yes, its by the sour cream/cheese section.


ETA: I also use this as a substitute for sour cream. For example when DH makes tacos, he uses sour cream, and I use this. Its absolutely delicious!! You can barely tell the difference.

In my Walbaums, I actually get it in the yogurt section. I clean them out every week.
