Where did the chinchilla thread go?
Did I miss something? Why was the thread about the chinchillas pulled?
I think threads like that are VERY important in educating people about what NOT to do, and maybe that they should not get pets if they think other things may trump their pet down the line.....

Re: Wherw did the chinchilla thread go?
To be honest, I don't think it was doing any good being up here. Personally, I would never get rid of my pets like that, but the OP did what she did and berating her on LIF wasn't going to change her mind. People like that aren't stupid, they KNOW that pets are a forever thing, they just don't CARE. The thread was , IMO.

I agree on almost all counts except to say that people don't care. I would never get rid of my dog EVER but I think it's unfair to say that all people don't care. Growing up we had to get rid of a dog because he wouldn't stop biting my sister. My mom was heartbroken but what was she going to do? The dog bit her every chance he got so my mom found a single man who fell in love with the dog and adopted him from us.
I think it's important to remember that people not caring isn't always the case. As for the chinchilla thread, no good will come from going on about it still. We're all adults here we all know what's right and wrong, there's no sense in going on about it.

Not at allllllllll what I meant. We, too, had to give up a dog growing up for biting both my sister and brother. They each nearly lost an eye. What I mean is they don't care what you say, not that they didn't care about the pet (though, to be honest, I still doubt the sincerity of it if they give the pet to just ANYONE, or to a pet shop). We gave our dog up to a rescue/rehabilitation group for last chance dogs. We got tons of recs and made sure they wouldn't adopt her out to just anyone or before she was ready. I meant they KNOW all the things you guys were saying- they know how pet stores are, they KNOW they probably could take care of the pet, but they don't care to try otherwise. But I still agree, there's no sense in going on about it!
