We ve tried everything but all he does is destroy the apartment every night no matter what time we, go to bed Chat Icon I love him so much but i haven't had consecutive hours of sleep since we took him and his brother 2 weeks ago.

Re: Help

My 7 year old doesn't let me sleep thru the night.
She wakes up about 4am when DH gets up and then tears azz thru the house, not a good thing because I have a nasty old downstairs neighbor.

I try to tire her out before going to bed by playing with her, and try not to let her nap before bedtime.
She still wakes up at 4 though, then finally quiets down about 5:30 just in time for me to get up.

I'm seriously starting to think a drop of children's benadryl at bedtime .......

Re: Help

I think it is normal if you just took them in 2 weeks ago. When I first took my cat in he used to wake us up ( well, mostly ex-fh) all during the night. Don't forget, cats are nocturnal. Eventually they will settle into a day/night routine, just give them some more time. Hang in there!

Re: Help

When we first got my cat he was a terror. Our rescue group and the pet board here said I should play with him and feed him before bed. I found that he was much more tired after chasing around the wand. We couldnt feed him before bed because he gets hungry and would bother us even more. try playing with him and hopefully he will tire out and go to bed. I was also told not to let him have afternoon naps because that disturbs their sleep pattern.

Good luck!

Re: Help

How about closing him in his own room with food and a litter box.

He may "complain" at first but most will adjust.
