Those familiar with some local shelters

I bought a big box of dog bones from Petco around Xmas and I want to bring them to a shelte for the dogs. But - I want to bring DD and we can walk through the kennels and give them to the dogs ourselves (I wouldn't let DD put them in) I know the Brookhaven shelter doesn't let you do this, do you know of any shelters that would?

Town of Hempstead will allow you to if they approve the product. I have just had to check it in with the ladies at the front desk and then once they approve it they will let you walk through.

Just be careful! This is always something I have done by myself, not with my DD. SOme of the dogs can get a little bit rowdy. Unfortunately I guess being locked up in a cage for months can do that to them. As much as I love the idea...it scared the heck out of Emily just to walk through there, let alone come anywehre close to feeding them treats!

I was going to say the same thing. Seeing all those dogs locked up is heart breaking for me as an adult so I don't know if I'd bring my kid there. But I've never really asked to give the dogs treats. Whenever I've gone to North Shore of the ACC in Brooklyn I've brought treats in my pocket and given them to the dogs as I passed. No one ever told me not to.
