Have you ever made a "complaint" about a co-worker?

I work with someone, let's call her Jane.

For the most part, she is easy to get along with.

But she has this trait that when she gets stressed or is thrown problems that A.) became problems because she never followed up to begin with or B.) are just the nature of working in the business we do that no one could foresee, she will blame someone.

In any event, with Jane lately, everytime something happens, she comes out and blames ME! ETA: She also is ALWAYS making comments that things are "not her job" which are definitely part of her job description.

Either I get a phone call about it from her directly, or another co-worker comes to me to tell me she was complaining about me.

I think the big reason it happens is because I initially bring clients onto the program we mutually work for.

Anyways, I had a run in with her today and maybe I'm just stressed and annoyed myself w/ her but I decided to send a generalized email to our boss asking him to please send a friendly reminder to EVERYONE regarding what my role is again and what their role is again.

He knew right away who I was talking about from just that description alone and is addressing it.

Note: This could potentially be bad for business because I've gotten at least one complaint about her from a referral source. I am not her direct supervisor but as senior staff she has been directed to go to me with issues too. I am sure she is going to know too I "tattled" in a sense and it could be tense. She knew I was annoyed earlier with her today BTW.

No you didnt do a bad thing- yes, it might be uncomfortable for a couple days/weeks but the thing is she has to be told what her job is.

I really cant stand the whole- thats not my job thing, whether it is or isnt, you are always working as a team, pitch in!

Thankfully we don't work in the same location so that will help.

But yeah, I HATE when people play that it's "not my job card".

It is one thing when you have extra duties piling on your shoulders----quite another when routine expectations of the position are coming up.
