I rescued 3 dogs this weekend...
loose in the neighborhood  all 3 without collars.... luckily I knew where they all lived bc they are from the neighborhood.....
And of course this weekend, I have my DH's truck and he has my car (he went on a family trip and it gets better mileage) - but I keep an extra leash and collar in the glove box - figures!!!!!!!!!

That was so sweet of you - I've never thought to have an extra leash and collar in the car

that is WONDERFUL.
what breed are they? if you called the local shelter they will hold the dogs for about a week (depends on shelter) and if the owner(s) do not claim them, they will do an evaluation to determine if they are adoptable. only problem w/ most town shelters is that the "hold" period prior to euthnaizing is somewhat short.
if you know the breed, please let me know i will put you in contact (or i will call) some local rescue organizations.
