Repost- if your child skis
What do you dress them in for a full day of skiing? I don't want him to be cold, but I don't want him sweating either. I have silk long johns for him. Would a pair of sweat pants and sweatshirt be enough clothing? He also has a North Face coat and hat, and ski pants and gloves from Lands End.

Both boys wear Under Armour Cold Gear. It's lightweight so they can move.. but it keeps them toasty. Over that they wear sweatpants and their snow pants on the bottom and a long sleeved tee and their ski jackets on the top. Of course they also have gloves that fit under jacket, thermal socks and hats under their helmets.

What brand of ski socks do you use that are warm? There are so many choices, it's overwhelming!

Re: Repost- if your child skis
I am just starting to outfit my son but i used to work at a ski school
try to avoid cotton if you can -it just stays cold
silk long johns are ok but they may be better on a really cold say in addition to a standard pair of long johns - that is actually how my mom dresses
the way i would recommend bottoms long johns - medium weight - want something wicks so if they end up sweating it takes the moisture away from the skin
Fleece pants - on cold days - fleece also wicks so it is better than cotton sweat pants
snowpants - bibs work best at keeping them dry but makeit more difficult for bathroom
ski socks - only one pair - and thicker is not better - do not put a cotton sock under a ski sock - good pairs are smart wool or if allergic to wool- euro socks are very good - but most socks are pretty good - the thicker sock can make it too tight in the boot and cut off ciculation which could make for cold feet - also the cotton sock can make it too tight and will keep the foot wet which will make them cold - most ski socks wick well
On top long johns - meium wight
wicking turtle necks - or mid layer -cotton turtle necks can make them cold - two thin layers can alow them to keep warmer than one really bulky layer
Fleece - for cold days - better than sweatshirt and easier to clean than wool sweater
mattering on temp use the wicking turtle neck, or fleece or them together on really cold days
insulated jacket
mittens neck warmer helmet goggles
also have on parent extra mittens - hot packs and liners to use (the magic gloves while cotton work great as cheap liners for kids)

I wear Smart Wool so I bought the same for my girls and they haven't complained about being cold.

I love Smart Wool.. but my kids insist on Hot Chilly's. I am guessing it's more about the LOOK for them.. but they keep them warm and dry so I'm okay with it! :)
