TCC for Dummy's... Question

Hey everyone! Have been married for 2 years... got married at Fox Hollow in NY. Now live in NJ.

Anyway... we are going to start TCC in the fall and I have some really STUPID questions (the stuff your supposed to know from health class in school)!!

I feel like a dummy but wanted to ask since you guys are probably in the "know"....

Is it true you can only get preggo around the 13-15 day of your cycle (assuming a regular 28 day cycle?)

Was on birth control for 10 years... have been off since December and we just do the pull out method.
I just want to know how to be preparing and want to understand when the right time is.

Not always true. There are a few phases to your cycle. Cycle Day 1(CD) is the 1st day of bleeding-this is also called your follicular phase-this can vary in length from month to month. For instance I have a 29 day cycle and Ovulate around CD 16 or 17 usually.

Leading up to ovulation you will notice a difference in your discharge-when you see slippery, stretchy fluid(like egg whites) start BD'ing and continue for about 5 -7 days.

After Ovulation you will enter your luteal phase which is usually the same month to month-it shoudl be about 12 days long for the best chances at pregnancy. You can also buy ovulation predictor kits(OPK) I really like OPK's and have found them accurate for me.

Look into this book-even for women NOT at the TTC part of life, it's amazing. It's called Taking Charge of Your Fertility (TCYF is the abbreviation people will use here). It explains everything health class and mom didn't!
