Still looking for a home for Dodger
If anyone here is able to give Dodger a loving forever home or knows someone who can, please contact me. Thanks. January 21: Just updated this to be more accurate with information we are receiving and progress.
Dodger is an extremely loving and loyal dog. He is a shepherd mix. We are getting varying opinions from animal experts and lovers as to what he is mixed with, so I don't know the answer to that. My best guess is that he has some Dutch shepherd in him. He weighs 42 pounds, and the vet said that he is full grown. He is approximately 18 months old. He knows commands like "sit," "stay," "come," "no," etc.
He is neutered, and he has all of his shots. We can provide a list from the vet for this.
He's very obedient at meal and sleep times. We can easily leave food out on the stove/table while we are eating, and he will not jump on it. He sleeps through the night with us. Even when Eric gets up first, he will come back and sleep with me. He wakes up when we do, but sleeps until that point.
He loves attention and affection, and he warms up to people very quickly. He barks when someone comes around the house, but does not bite and is the biggest sweetheart once he gets to know you. He loves people.
He is also very loyal. My Mom fell the other day (she is fine), and he let out a little cry and immediately came over to help. Eric dropped something on his (Eric's) foot the other day, and as soon as he said "Ow!" Dodger's ears perked up and he made sure that Eric was ok.
He needs a bit of training with being fully housebroken and with walking, as he does pull a bit. We are still working on walking, but we have progressed. We are beginning the crate training process. He is way above the housebreaking level of a puppy, but, as I mentioned, he needs some training here.
We do not know how he is around children, as we do not have any. However, he does bark at them when we are outside. He barks at cats and other dogs, so he may be best as either the only pet in the home, separated from other pets, or with someone willing to do training in this area.
We have supplies to provide: food, bowls, toys, bed, leash, harness, collar, crate, treats, bowl mat, and a doggie "litter box."

Thanks so much. I am so stressed out about this situation. We want to find him a home so badly.
We found him. We tried to find his owners, and we couldn't. Originally, we thought that we could keep him and make it work with our current pets. We tried, and it really isn't working out. Our cats are extremely unhappy, and if we have to cage him up because of the cats, he is going to be extremely unhappy. We are trying so hard to find the best solution for him and for our cats.
Thanks so much for posting this to your FB. I have barely slept; I am so emotionally and physically sick over this.

I'd love if I can find his owners. I actually can't remember if I posted about it originally, but I'll FM you with the info now.

We've had a few people who are interested, but then nothing comes of it.
We have a family member who is interested right now, which would be absolutely perfect because then we know for sure that he is safe and loved. They also live in the same town as my parents and the wife goes to the same church that we do, so it would be perfect.

Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you! Unfortunately my friend is not ready yet for a pup. I really thought he might be ready but it's still too soon since he lost his other pup I'm sorry and wish I had better news!! I'm still going to keep sharing this on FB though. I really hope you can find a home for Dodger soon
