APA Redefinition of Autism/Contact Information
Not sure it will have much effect, but if anyone has concerns about the new definition of autism and would like to voice them, please contact the APA by the information below:
Contact Information:
American Psychiatric Association
1000 Wilson Boulevard, Suite 1825
Arlington, Va. 22209-3901
[email protected] 1-888-357-7924
Personally, I am concerned about this change and cannot see my son qualifying for services anymore when it comes to pass. And I do think he will need OT and social skills work for quite awhile.

Re: APA Redefinition of Autism/Contact Information
Your son should be able to get those services through your district even if he doesn't have an autism diagnosis. Your child is already receiving those services as part of a developmental delay I assume. Not JUST because he has a label of autism. Now things like ABA, an autism consultant, and speech 5 days a week will certainly be affected by this, so it doesn't hurt to contact them.
