Boston Getaway

Hi-
Can anyone give me some ideas on nice hotels in Boston? We are looking to do a quick getaway for a few nights.
I've never been there so I have no idea where any of the hotels I am looking at are situated in respect to sites, restaurants etc.

Also any advice on sightseeing, places to go, etc?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: Boston Getaway

There is a brand new Westin on Boston on the waterfront. You may be able to get a good deal there.

Re: Boston Getaway

I just recently stayed at the Hyatt in Cambridge on Memorial Avenue. Very nice.

Re: Boston Getaway

DH and I were just in Boston this weekend. We go fairly often and i'm very familair with Boston.

We stayed at the Radisson in Downtown Boston - very nice, in the theatre district, a block and a half from the train. For Boston it was pretty inexpensive (less than $200 per night).

There's plenty to see and do and eat there!

DH is REALLY into whale watching, so we went on a whale watch Saturday afternoon with my best friend (she lives there) and her parents. Followed by cocktails behind the Long Wharf Marriott on right on the water, which was followed by dinner near the water. Later in the evening we walked up to the North End - Boston's equivilent of Little Italy for espresso and dessert.

There's also the Freedom Trail through the city that hits all the major historical sites. The famous Duck Tours, which you absolutely have to book ahead of time (I believe you can do it online).

I can go on and on, but I won't.

Re: Boston Getaway

whenever i go to Boston i like to walk up and down Newbury Street. There are so many cool stores and restaurants. I also like Faneul Market (this spelling is totally off!)
we booked a hotel through hotels.com and we actually got an awesome rate at the Ritz Carlton on Newbury Street!
It was beautiful!

I live in Boston - I would not stay in the new Westin - it is in the seaport District (south boston) - will be taking cabs or T everywhere

stay close to fenuil hall or prudential center - or the theatre (financial district) - but quiet on the weekends

nice to see street performers in fenuil hall -

Nice shops on newbury st by Prudential center

Charles st has small boutiques - nice to walk through the brownstones of beacon hill - check louisberg square - most expensive place to live in boston

lots of nice bars around fenuil hall (irish way) and boylesyton st

great outdoor bars are Tias and Landing - whihc are around mariott long waharf hotel

some nice hotels are millenium, 15 beacon, langham

We go a lot too - my best friend from college lives outside Boston. I love the high-speed ferry to P-town. ALso the North End, go to the Improv for hysterical comedy. Boston Commons, Newbury St, Faniel Hall... I will bump a previous post for you -
