our old man is gone
the 10-year old chihuahua we adopted, last summer, from my uncle passed away late last night or early this morning.
my uncle had gotten too sick to care for the old guy, so we took him in.
when we first got him, he wanted nothing to do with us. it took him a couple of months before he would even spend time in the house. eventually, he became a part of our motley crew family.
when the pup came to us, in december, the old man showed spunk. he would put the pup in her place whenever she would get too rough with him. it was so much fun to watch him developing and becoming a member of the family.
this morning, mario found him near the area where their food bowls are.
paco taco was an old and sick dog. honestly, i wasn’t sure he’d last this long… but my heart is still broken. i hope he’s in doggie heaven and has met odie. odie will take care of him.

I know you're sad right now but take comfort in the fact that you gave this difficult dog a warm, safe home and lots of love and patience for his last year. I am certain Paco Taco is frolicking over the the Rainbow Bridge with Odie. Thanks for being such a good doogie parent and so sorry for your loss

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they miss someone very special to them; who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. YOU have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
THEN YOU CROSS RAINBOW BRIDGE TOGETHER...

thanks everyone.
it's been a tough day and it was even harder having to break the news to my son, who lost his first dog and best buddy less than a year ago.
there's been a lot of crying but we're holding up. even the puppy seems sad.
