Fido Fitness in Woodmere?

Anyone ever been here/used them? Ozzie just started Doggy Daycare here 2 days/week with a training add-on to help him learn how to socialize with other dogs. Today is his first day! I wanted to call to check on him but DH said no, I would be a crazy doggy mommy if I did that. I hope it's going well!

I went there when they first opened and they seem ok, nice/clean. I just couldn't afford the "tuition"

I've been curious about this place. I've watched their web cam a little & it didn't look like the dogs were doing much in daycare so I couldn't justify the expense. I was picturing it more like doggie camp w/activities & stuff!
However, my little guy (a rescue) really needs to learn to socialize. He always wants to say hello to other dogs but then gets so nervous. And he is really scared of certain types of dogs (mastiffs, collies).
I didn't know they had an add-on for socialization training. Do you know more about what that includes?
Hope all is going well for your doggie!

Ozzie had his first day on Monday and goes back Friday. It is pricey but Ozzie (also a rescue) is the same way with socialization - he has even started fights but he is the most good-natured dog ever so we're certain it's all just nerves. I honestly don't know much about it because I let DH take care of arranging it and he isn't as obsessive about asking questions as I am. But, I'm picking Ozzie up on Friday instead of Daddy so I will definitely be asking them to tell me EXACTLY what the program is like (even though DH says I'm nuts and to calm down and let them do their job) so I can fill you in after Friday!

18! that is sooo wonderful!!

at my guy's doggy day care "socialization" meant that the trainer on staff hand selected certain gentle, friendly dogs that your dog would be compatible with for an easy way to get used to socializing. they would put them in a room and supervise the play, interrupting if things got "rough" or someone was not being polite. I would definitely ask for details or even if you could observe a "socialization" session before committing to it if it made you feel more comfortable.

oh wow i just checked out their website. they have some pretty cool classes - TTouch and Treiball are not your run of the mill classes. TTouch is actually a wonderful thing for jittery dogs

One thing i didn't notice is what kind of training methods they use. Usually if it's positive methods they state that up front. I would absolutely want to know what methods they use esp for socializing, and what they train the handlers during day care on....like if there is a doggy argument, how do they stop the argument and separate the dogs?

i'm overly protective of my dog and would not want the handlers or socialization trainers to be too heavy handed
