Mixing medications

Is there a way to find out how one medication might affect another - as in, if you are taking two simultaneously? Or more than two, for that matter.

I mean other than asking your doctor.

I was wondering if there was a website or something.

I am asking for a friend. She is on six different medications for a variety of issues and she is having a host of problems. I feel like all the doctors do is throw medications at her without considering how they might affect each other.

Thanks.

Re: Mixing medications

well a pharmacy shoudl be able to make sure there wont be a dangerous interaction.

other than that you just need a reallllly good internist!

Re: Mixing medications

A pharmacist can definitly help! Also, I am not sure what the meds are for but when I saw my psychiatrist I would ask about numerous things effecting each other at times he would consult the internet. For ex: Id ask about my anxiety med while taking benadryl etc..

Re: Mixing medications

Your friend can look up each medication online and see if any of the medications interact with each other. She could also talk to the pharmacist- If she uses the same pharmacy all the time the pharmacist would tell her if there was any danger in taking the medications together.

Also if she told her different doctors what medications she was taking they would know if there was an interaction between medications.
