For those of you that pack lunches what do you pack....
I am trying to come up with a list for next year and am having trouble thinking of anything out side of sandwiches and pasta salad....

You can get a funtainer and pack hot stuff like soups, pasta, mac n cheese, etc. It keeps the stuff warm.

This is what we cycle through- Peanut better and jelly on WW Peanut butter and nutella on WW Peanut butter between 2 waffles Turkey sandwich- he likes to make it himself so I pack turkey separate, a slice of cheese and either rice cakes or mini bagel Yogurt
He drinks either a juice box or yogurt drink. Then I always pack a fruit and a snack- usually a 100 calorie pack of something.

I just posted about this too. I have such a hard time with lunch because he's so picky.
I bake him muffins every week. I try to always sneak a veggie into them. I usually do a muffin, yogurt, and fruit. I've also done oatmeal, cereal, waffles, bagel with cream cheese, or matzo with cream cheese. I tried leftovers but they don't go over well. I've also given him crackers with apple butter, or plain with cheese on the side.
I always give him a fruit and sometimes a yogurt. For a drink it's a juice box, or drinkable yogurt, or dark chocolate almond milk.
I never give him a snack with lunch because he has snack during the day.

One DS like carrot sticks, celery sticks, and cucumber slices with dip or hummus with apple.
The other likes WW bagels with cream cheese with banana.
Both like string cheese and triscuits (I love that triscuts only have 3 ingredients!)
I will throw in something desserty - cookie, muffin, etc.
I wish they bought lunch!
Sometimes I will switch it up...tortilla chips, shredded cheese and avocados....a sandwich (my kids don't really like, but if I have croissants they do...cereal bar....
I don't send in anything peanut butter/nut. I never want my kids to not be able to sit with friends who are nut free. DS#1 also had a severe nut allergy in his class last year and they asked that we have them wash their hands and brush their teeth if they had any nut product in the morning before school and not bring in anything nut related to school, so i got into the habit.

DD was always soo picky I was so upset and scared at the idea of her having to eat lunch at school LOL. Turns out..she has gotten soo much better with the start of Kindergarten and eats a lot more variety now. She asks to buy atleast 2-3 days a week. She likes some of the hot choices.
When she brings lunch...she brings...cereal...crackers w/ cheese and meat roll ups...a bagel with cream cheese, PB&J or turkey sandwiches.....

Re: For those of you that pack lunches what do you pack....
Emily is a super picky eater and also has a peanut allergy so there are limitations.
I have made mac n cheese and put it in a thermos...
I've baked chicken nuggets, put them in foil and sent them in...
I've sent in pasta with butter and cheese....smart taste pasta with smart balance light margarine and parmasean cheese, which is how she likes her pasta...
Bologna sandwiches...
Sometimes I will buy her a subway sandwich and she takes half one day, half the next...
I've sent her with cheese and crackers and then lots of other smaller things on the side ...
As far as what goes with the "main part" of her sandwich...
Small water bottles or a 100% juice box
Strawberries, apple slices or grapes
tube yogurt or drinkable yogurt or twister string cheese
and usually some kind of treat like 2 oreos or a piece of homemade brownie, homemade cookie or something like that
I usually send her in with several options, and hope that she picks the best ones nutritionally. She always eats at least half of the "main" thing because she knows she has to. A lot of the time the fruit comes home, but then if she wants an afterschool snack it has to be fruit and a string cheese first before she gets any "treats."
