I am sort of in the same boat but not lol. I have an undergrad in teaching and was about to finish my masters in teaching as well but the loans were adding up so fast and there were no job opportunities. I couldn't find a single thing, this was 3 years ago, now it's only gotten worse. I feel like I wasted all that money going to school and now I just babysit.

I know that St. Joseph's College and Hofstra often have seminars for people who went to school for teaching and want to do something else with their degree. Someone actually posted on here the powerpoint from Hofstra I believe, let me see if I can find it.

Re: ......

This year I may get excessed. I have been teaching for 6+ years. I have been upset since they announced they need to cut over $2 million from the budget at the last BOE meeting. As my superintendent said, there are no more little things to cut. In the last two years, we have already cut 40+ teachers (>10% of our staff).

I LOVE teaching, but if I get cut this year, I am looking in a different field. Teaching jobs are rewarding because of the connections you make with the kids, but I do get frustrated that there are no opportunities for rewarding performance in this profession. I know many people are against rewarding performance, but it annoys me that someone not pulling their weight or doing the bare minimum is making the same as me since we are on the same step.

I have already updated my resume for teaching and non teaching jobs. I have begun to look online for new jobs and have started to network. Unfortunately, I do not know too many people where I live. We relocated a few years ago when my DH got his job.
