NYC Teachers

I'm currently out on child care leave, but I have been teaching in NYC since 2006. I was wondering if your schools mentioned anything about the TDRs? I got an email from my UFT leader saying there will be meetings coming up about them, but I was wondering if anything else was being said.

Thanks!

Only 8 or so of us in my building have a tdr. There isn't much buzz, because most of the lower grade teachers have no idea what's going on. The 4th and 5th grade teachers in my school commiserated Monday morning, but that's it.

Any specific questions?

Re: NYC Teachers

we didnt have tdrs last year and wont have them this year...

that said, i know that there is a big push for "accountability" so my admin is kind of making their own for all grades k-5.

Teacher Data Reports. They were published to the public recently. It's only for ELA and Math teachers for 4-8th grade. I don't know if they are tested below 4th grade. I teach 7th and 8th grade math.

Gotcha. I teach 7th and 8th grade math. I read an article about parents complaining and wanting their child switched out of a class because the teacher had one of the lowest scores. I guess just wondering if this is happening at a lot of schools or if the admin said anything.

Re: NYC Teachers

My chapter leader went to a meeting yesterday but I have not heard anything from her.

Two of my colleagues are very upset because they both have scores for subjects never taught (science teacher with reading and math scores and math teacher with reading scores.) Another teacher has scores from when she was out on maternity leave.

We have not heard much from parents. I was anxious because we had conferences yesterday, but out of 85 kids I only saw a dozen parents, so I guess they are not too worried.

The most fabulous teacher in my school, the one we're told to observe and look to for help, got the worst score in the department. Chat Icon She's decided to retire. I can't blame her.
