Need OB who specializes in twins
Can you recommend OBs who specialize in twins, preferably south shore, western Nassau?
Not sure if I'll need a perinatologist(??) I know a lot of people recommend Dr. Kofinas but from what I read, he only takes out-of-network and we don't have any OON coverage.
I have Oxford Liberty and will need to stay in-network, so crossing my fingers that we'll find someone good in the plan!

I saw my regular ob and a perinatologist. The ob took care of me and the peri took care of the babies. I was very glad that my reg ob sent me there for closer monitoring. It paid off

I saw Dr. Altman at the Ann and Jules Gottlieb Center in Manhasset. She delivers a LOT of twins. She also sent me for regular monitoring at LIJ (tons of sonos, etc). I also picked her bc of the NICU at LIJ.

Were you told you need someone who specializes in twins or were you just assuming? B/c I saw my regular OB until there was an issue with my cervix shortening at 24 weeks. Even then I didnt have to switch,I just saw the high risk dr. every once in awhile. If I never had a problem I wouldnt have had to see anyone but my OB.

I go to Great Neck OBGYN, they specialize in high risk pregnancies. They do all sonos right there in the office, the only time I had to go somewhere else was for the 3 hour glucose test.
Dr. Sadaty delivered JLo's twins. That was good enough for me, though in the end she wasn't the Dr. that delivered my boys because my water broke at 3am at 31w5d.

My OB is Dr. Thanus which is in the Bethpage medical building next to St Joseph hospital (mid island hopsital) I was sent to Winthrop perintal for monitoring when I got further along. What a wonderful team thy were. If you are going to deliver there, then I suggest going this route so you are familiar with all Drs

Sorry no suggestions, just wanted to tell you I chose to stay high risk even though I wasn't. I appreciated the extra monitoring and ultrasounds.

Cowgirl, having twins alone makes you high risk. Even though you may not have had other issues, this still makes you in that category.

I agree - this is my reasoning also.
I was surprised that my RE actually said that I did not *need* a high risk doctor, but could if it's my preference...so why take any chances?
Plus, I don't already have an OB that I like/trust so if I'm going to find a new one, might as well get a specialist!

Saw my regular midwives for my twin pregnancy. There was a high risk Dr in the practice that they consulted with and I met with once. He also viewed all sono images. I'm north shore suffolk so my reccomendations won't help you.

I'm using my regular OB who delivered my son. They said they have delivered many twins and aren't a c-section only practice, so I felt comfortable staying with them.
Do I need a high risk doctor? My dr. never mentioned it and I figured I would only need one if something came up?

Ditto.
I used Dr. Zandieh on Hempstead Tpke in Bethpage. Love him!!!!!!!!!!!!! And the peri he sent me to is in Mineola. I was also very happy with that practice.

My practice had a high risk group, reg obs, and midwives. After my initial consult with high risk they told me I could choose who I wanted to see in the practice out of all of them. I chose to continue following up with the maternal fetal med docs.
