What looks like a banana....
I bought some "bananas" last week and decided to let them just ripen in the fridge to use for banana muffins.
I went to open them yesterday afternoon and discovered that they were orange on the inside. Not like they were rotten, but just not your typical banana color. It tasted a little more "fibery" than your average banana. Yes, I still used them in my muffins and no, I haven't gotten sick from it.
I'm thinking it was a different variety of banana, but I can't figure out what type, even through an extensive google search.

Hmmmmm - I've had plantains before - they definitely weren't the color of what I opened yesterday. The skin was yellow and the same consistency of a regular banana.

Maybe it was a 'karat'? This mentioned that there are more than 20 different types of bananas with all different yellow, orange or red fleshes.
