MoMs, what kind of exercise while pregnant?

Hey-
Curious what type of exercise you are or were able to do while pg w/multiples.

And how did it vary by trimester?
****************************************
I have my first ob appt on Tues, so I'll ask the dr, but I wanted to get an idea of the range first.

Since my egg retrieval/transfer, the RE has said nothing high impact...only "mild" walking and slow elliptical.

I enjoy the walks but i need a little more. My upper body is atrophying. And mentally, it's driving me crazy! Working out is a main stress-reliever / feel-good activity for me. I know I won't be able to work out as hard as I was (I would typically do aerobics, weights/resistance training/core work, and yoga.)

Would like to at least be cleared for prenatal yoga.

I appreciate any feedback! TIA Chat Icon

I would think that if your body is used to doing excercise then you should be able to continue. I would def ask the dr.
I walked daily all the way up to 7 months when I couldn't even stand more then like 15 min. LOL

I am so Happy for you. COngrats!! I had to do IVF also.....it was a LONG road, but almost forgotten time already. My Twins are 5 months.

Re: MoMs, what kind of exercise while pregnant?

i was just like u. A real gym rat and I was the person who LOVED working out. When i got PG with the twins I was told nothing more than just walking since I was high risk from the very beginning. I had a bleeding blood cloth them a shortening cervix that eventually needed a cerclage.
I hated not being able to do anything BUT I knew that it was worth it when i gave birth to almost 6 lbs twins at almost 37 weeks.
Please listen to your docs and listen to your body.
a twin pregnancy is not the same as a singleton. Dont over push yourself please!!!!

good luck at ur fist appt

ETA: i gained 90lbs during my pregnancy (the last 30 was fluids from the pre-eclampsia) 10 months later i only have 8lbs left to loose. I'm back int he gym and almost back to normal.

My OB was ok with me doing anything I was already doing, nothing extra.

But by 10 weeks I really didn't feel like doing much. So I just kept with light walking and running after my 2 year old Chat Icon

At first I was allowed to do anything low impact...eliptical, spin, weights. At around 10 weeks I started to have a shorted cervix and was put on bedrest...so all of that was out the window.

I think it is a case by case basisChat Icon Chat Icon good luck and congrats

Thank you everyone for your responses!
Just met with the OB for the first time and he said I can do anything as long as my heart isn't pounding and I can still breathe well enough to speak!!!

So prenatal yoga, etc, fine.

He even said I can do ab-work until 16 wks! I will take it easy on that, though, as my uterus is already popping out at 10 wks! Chat IconChat Icon Chat Icon

So happy!!

Oh, and babies were dancing around like they were having the times of their lives (I guess they really are!) So, I think they'd be into a little prenatal aerobics! Chat Icon

I ran before and ran till about 20 weeks - I ran about 2 miles a day

from 20 weeks to 26 weeks i walked about 2 miles a day - i have a large dog that loves his walks

i also skied at about 16 weeks - but i have been skiing from when i was little

i was not considered high risk until about 20 weeks when they thought i had cervix issues - that i really did not have
