6 and 7 year old birthday parties - do you stay?

Do you stay at your kids friend's birthday party, or drop off?

Re: 6 and 7 year old birthday parties - do you stay?

If its a family that Im very familiar with then

I would go if I had something else to do.

If its my child's classmate or someone Im

not familiar with I stay. I did this couple of

times and socialized with other parents for

the hour or so, didnt mind.

Almost all parents stayed at the party for all of the 6, 7, and 8yo parties that we've been to. It may have been all the parents, but if one or two left, I wouldn't have noticed.

This year all the 5 year old parties have been drop-off. So Yes, I'd be perfectly comfortable dropping my 6/7 year old off.

Starting at 7 most of us did not go to parties...we even carpooled so we did not all have to drive.

We just had a party for my six year old son and all parents stayed. I've been to five six year old parties in the past few months and didn't notice any parents leaving.

Re: 6 and 7 year old birthday parties - do you stay?

At a place, I would stay. This year out of the 4 bday parties she went to, I only left her at 1. And that one I knew the mom from preschool and I hung out for about a 1/2 hr. None of the other parents stayed. It was a small bday party at the house. I am not quite comfortable yet but getting there. She will be 6 in june.

I haven't droppedmy son off to any party yet and he is 7.

Funny- I just had this conversation this weekend and my friends (from upstate and CT) were saying all the parties are pretty much drop off from ages 6-8. I haven't had that at all. My son is 7 and all the parties all the parents stay. Sometimes we take a friend or two's kids with us but someone always stays for the party to watch whoever they brought with them. I have heard drop off for some girlie parties from friends locally - mostly those spa type parties...I just assumed the locations were small and itght and not active so no need to stay.

I still stay. I see a parent here or there that leaves. But I don't feel comfortable leaving...at 6. Most of the parents stay.

We usually stay. We had a party 2 weeks ago and I left for 20 mins to run an errand. We were in a part of town I rarely get to and there was a store I wanted to go to before it closed.

Re: 6 and 7 year old birthday parties - do you stay?

I usually stay, but I did drop off this weekend. It was a (6yr old) house party, just a few blocks away but it was FOUR hours. I stayed long enough to get her settled in and comfortable, and then came back in time for cake.

This was a big weekend - first drop off playdate, and first drop off party Chat Icon

Re: 6 and 7 year old birthday parties - do you stay?

DD was just at a 7 year old's birthday party this weekend. I stayed because she is 4. Only about 4 other parents stayed there were 15 kids.

I have to say, other than the few that had their parents there it was a rude, messy, misbehaved bunch of kids.

Having seen it I'll have DD's parties at a place that runs it. Not something I'd have to run.

The parents that ran it did a great job but some of the guests were clearly not ready to be without their parents yet.

I think it really depends on your child.

My DS is 6. At all the parties we've been to this year, almost all the parents stay.
