Jewish Bakery?
My Mom has a lot of food allergies and there are a lot of jewish foods that she can eat because of certain rules with Kosher foods.
For example she can eat Coconut Macaroons, when made according to jewish traditions, because they do not contain any milk.
She's over my house right now ranting and raving about how she didn't buy any coconut macaroons at the grocery store this year and now that the Jewish holidays are over she isn't going to be able to get them and it's such a special once-a-year treat for her.
I said she must be able to get them year-round, she just isn't looking in the right places.
She lives in Ronkonkoma and I live in Levittown. Does anyone know of any Jewish Bakeries in either areas where you can buy things like Coconut Macaroons year round, not just during Jewish Holidays?

Re: Jewish Bakery?
She should stock up in the stores now. Those cans of macaroons last awhile I believe.
For bakeries, there is a kosher bakery called zucker baker in wantagh. I have not been there but know people who love it. So I don't know if they have what she is looking for, or if that is even near either of you but it is worth a shot.
Also what about jewish market places? I know the jewish supermarket in douglaston/little neck have passover foods year round as well as other treats I am sure she could pick up.

Tell her to buy them now they are on sale in all of the supermarkets. There are gluten free certified brands that are available year round.

Re: Jewish Bakery?
Passover is this week and the grocery stores near me have a lot of macaroons for sale. I also have a macaroon recipe.
This Epicurious.com recipe: Chocolate-Covered Coconut Macaroons has been sent to you by a friend. You can view the complete recipe online at: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Chocolate-Covered-Coconut-Macaroons-107101?mbid=ipapp
Chocolate-Covered Coconut Macaroons 3 cups (lightly packed) sweetened shredded coconut 3/4 cup sugar 3/4 cup egg whites (about 6 large) 1 3/4 teaspoons vanilla extract 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
9 ounces bittersweet (not unsweetened) or semisweet chocolate, chopped 6 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
Mix first 3 ingredients in heavy large saucepan. Cook over medium heat until mixture appears somewhat pasty, stirring constantly, about 12 minutes. Remove from heat. Mix in 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract and 1/4 teaspoon almond extract. Spread out coconut mixture on large baking sheet. Refrigerate until cold, about 45 minutes. Preheat oven to 300°F. Line another baking sheet with parchment. Press 1/4 cup coconut mixture into pyramid shape (about 1 1/2 inches high). Place on prepared sheet. Repeat with remaining coconut mixture. Bake cookies until golden, about 30 minutes. Transfer cookies to rack and cool. Set cookies on rack over rimmed baking sheet. Stir chocolate and cream in heavy medium saucepan over medium heat until melted and smooth. Remove from heat. Mix in remaining 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract. Spoon glaze over cookies, covering almost completely and allowing chocolate to drip down sides. Refrigerate until glaze sets, at least 2 hours. (Can be made 1 day ahead. Transfer cookies to airtight container and keep refrigerated.)

Re: Jewish Bakery?
Thank you guys for your responses! I am in Levittown which is very close to Wantagh so I will check out the place in Wantagh. That would be a great surprise if I got her some treats that she can eat!

Zuckerbaker's is actually on Jerusalem.
Their baked goods are always pareve, meaning they contain no dairy (or meat). I don't recall seeing macaroons there regularly, but you can get dairy-free stuff all year round. They should be open again on Sunday, since Passover ends at sundown tomorrow.
