Random thought occurred to me on my way to work this morning...
background:
I either read somewhere or someone told me that they heard, that when choosing a mate it is in part based on the consideration of procreating with this person.
So basically the thought is - is this someone i'd want to have children with/i wonder what our kids would look like...
As I said, I don't know where I got this from, but it's in my head (and perhaps I'm just making shit up!) I don't know.
Back to my story...
So I'm driving into work and was thinking about someone and wondered what our children would look like if we had any, to which my mind instantly shot to the question posed above which in turn made me wonder...
"Do those who know they don't want any children still have this thought process?"
What do you think?
For me, I have no idea of whether or not I'll have any of my own kids. It isn't that I don't like them or didn't want them to begin with, it's more that I feel I'm missing my ideal window of opportunity and feel once I reach a certain age, I'm not going to want them.
So when I had the thought of wondering what our hypothetical children would look like it struck me odd considering I don't even know if I'll ever have any.

At Dave & Busters they have a machine that you can see what your kids would look like. They take your pictures and then combine them together. lol.

An ex boyfriend and I used that machine years ago and the pics came out looking really distorted (big eyes, long nose and a pointy chin - totally ugly)..probably one reason we didn't work out..
But yes, I have definitely thought about that. From an evolutionary standpoint, women are pre-programmed to choose a mate based on the best genetic features in a partner. So yes, I cant help but think if we had kids - whether they would look more like him or like me. I am glad we are CF though because based on our gene pool, we really wouldn't contribute good looking people to the planet..lol (DH and I are olive skinned w/ black hair/brwn eyes plus both of our families have a history of cancer and diabetes).
I can't help but see gorgeous couples (like when Brad Pitt was w/ Jennifer Aniston) and think to myself "I hope they procreate because their kids would be so cute".

DH & I worked because neither of us wanted kids...so for me it was "i wonder if this guy wants kids"...not "what would our kids look like"
Before we got engaged we made sure we both still felt the same...and then we checked in with each other again right before the wedding...yup...no kids for us!

I don't know, we both wanted a few kids when we met and I thought he'd be a great father. Interesting, because I don't know what I'd think to myself if I was in that situation now.

Dh and I are on the same page. We actually talked about not wanting children fairly early in our relationship. I was attracted to him because I thought he was cute, and we had a lot in common. I guess anyone could say you unconciously choose based on thinking about children, but besides knowing neither of us wanted them I don't think anything about children crossed my mind.
