Anyone work in hospital admitting?

I'm trying to weigh my career options when my children are older (as soon many of us on this board are ).

I've been researching jobs as an admitting clerk in hospitals. I like it because it has flexible hours but am not sure of any specific duties or computer skills.

Has anyone ever worked in this field? What's the salary like?
