Sick of Salad
I am so sick of eating salad, lol. I have been eating a salad for lunch the past few weeks and I definitely need a break.
Does anyone have any other healthy lunch suggestions? I don't like tuna, but I am open to just about anything else!
TIA!

Re: Sick of Salad
how about a soups? As long as it in not creamy and filled with vegetables and/or protein then it is a good choice. In warmer weather I like gazpachos.

Egg white Omelettes Oatmeal and protein powder
What about steamed veggies and grilled chicken?
I often steam broccoli, spinach and mushrooms and then toss in some extra lean ground turkey that I season. i top it with a melted laughing cow cheese wedge! Voila! Delicious healthy meal!

Lauren, you just gave me dinner for tonight Thanks!
To the OP - I do sandwiches on sandwich thins or low-carb whole wheat bread - low sodium deli turkey, WW cheese, lettuce, tomato, mustard or hummus, some sliced cucumbers on the side.
Also, I do salad A LOT but try to change up what I put in, like I'll change the protein or the dressing - balsamic vinegar one day and then fat free italian or honey dijon the next.
I also like Amy's Kitchen low sodium line - some good, quick, microwave meals there.

Re: Sick of Salad
I usually have one of those Amy's burritos, or I bring black beans and brown rice and eat it with hot sauce. Sometime I throw some avocado on top too.
Also, sometimes I make a quinoa or bulgar salad in the beginning of the week with tons of veggies and bring a little every day.

Re: Sick of Salad
I'll make 3/4 cup of whole wheat penne and mix it with steamed vegetables and some parmesan cheese. Or make a big tray of light eggplant parmesean, freeze some, and bring some to work to heat up.

Re: Sick of Salad
For lunch I have been eating a trader joes tortilla (the whole wheat high fiber ones) with a slice of alpine lace low fat swiss and some turkey (the oscar meyer healthy ones). I top it off with 1/4 of an avocado. I cut out 1/4 and leave the pit in it and wrap it up or put it in a baggie in the fridge and it lasts about 4 days (sometimes I squirt a bit of lemon juice on the leftover to prevent browning)
I find it to be so filling. Without the avocado it's not really filling enough. I got in a salad rut also and this really helped.

Re: Sick of Salad
I make my own mini pizza....whole wheat tortilla as the "pizza dough" then I use BBQ sauce as the "tomato sauce". I top that with precooked chicken pieces & strips of peppers or spinach & red onion. I sprinkle some cheese ( I use gouda) on top and it needs about 6 minutes in the oven. So delicious!!

Also with pizzas i use whole wheat greek pocketles pitas or whole wheat english muffins for portion control. (with tomato sauce, mozarella or grated cheese)
