out of breath and heart racing

before i call the doctor with these new concerns, i wanted to ask you ladies first.

Im 15 weeks preggo w twins. As of yesterday, simple things like walking up stairs, drying my hair, (and of course teaching 3rd graders) has had me out of breath - my heart starts to beat faster and i HAVE TO sit down.

right now, i just walked up the stairs with a few clothes in my hand and im sitting on the couch till my heart and breathing go back to normal.

SOOOO - is this a concern to call the doctor or is it just something to deal with while carrying twins??

Thanks!

Re: out of breath and heart racing

i remember very early on I would get really out of breath easily esp going up stairs. That being said, it can never hurt to ask your doctor just to be safe!Chat Icon

It happened to me as well. I don't remember exactly when it started though. I think it is normal because of the increased blood volume etc. By the end of my pregnancy I could barely have a conversation without being winded. Mention it to your dr. but I think it is normal. Just make sure they keep an eye on your bp

Hope you are feeling better! I'm only going to be 7 weeks pregnant with twins tomorrow so I don't have any advice other than when in doubt, ask the doc! Hope it gets a little better though!

I remember being out of breath very early!!! I did find that it got better for a while, then it got a lot worse.

I would say it's normal, but ask you dr if you are concerned.

I always feel short of breath from stairs, but I felt short of breath from doing nothing the other day. I googled (I know, bad), but it said that early in pregnancy it can happen from progesterone spikes. I'm, 13 weeks. It ended up going away within a few hours so I didn't call the Dr.
