Can A and B swap?
I have fraternal twins and at my 24 weeks sono the tech said that A's placenta was in the front and B's was in the back. All the other sonos I have had were opposite- A's was in the back and B's was in the front. Also A was always head down and B was transverse- now B is head down and A is head up (so they are side by side). I'm so confused- could they have swapped sides or am I getting incorrect info?
She said A will always be A and B will always be B and the way she knows is which side they are on- but what if they swapped sides?

mine swapped sides around that time too - it was very confusing who they were looikng at with respct to where the wand was on my stomach
alot of the time i thought they kept mixing them up - and mine could have been mixed up because they were both boys

Re: Can A and B swap?
I remember them swapping all the time.
Even my sono tech who we saw every other week would say..ok..this one is BABY A today..lol.
Eventually they do stop and cant move anymore and their position stayed. Baby A for me was head down from 32wks on and Baby B was head up.

Re: Can A and B swap?
I was told by my sono tech that Baby A always presents more front and lower then Baby B. It all depends on where they implant. That's how they always know, even in the early stages when theyare still so small, who's who.
If you think about it, they can't really switch b/c they take notes and measure each baby everytime you have a sonogram. So how could they keep switching which is Baby A and which is Baby B? KWIM?

Re: Can A and B swap?
I always wondered this too. My baby a is the lower/previa baby. I thought it would be more difficult as they grew and moved around.

Yes this is what my tech was saying- A will always be A. But then how could the placentas be moved around? Unless I just wasn't getting the right info on the placentas either this time or during the other sonos.

Re: Can A and B swap?
I was told baby a was always the baby closest to the cervix.
I was pregnant with mono di twins (1 placenta, 2 sacs) so I don't think it is possible for them to swap.

Re: Can A and B swap?
They can swap, but one time they messed up who was who and it took several sonograms to confirm that they were indeed wrong since one baby had a pulmonary stenosis and at first they said it was A then it was B, so they were not sure if it was both who did or one. It was only A, one tech messed it up.

Re: Can A and B swap?
When there is 2 babies of same sex it's very hard to monitor who is who. I was having trouble getting Baby B heart during sonos because he didnt want to turn. It turns out now that Baby A was born with Heart murmur...I wonder if they switched but will never know. As long as they are healthy, that is all that matters.
